KEN BERRY Berry handwrote, signed and dated this letter to a fan named Loretta in 1957, eight years before he appeared on F Troop, with advice on improving her singing. Autograph letter signed "Ken Berry" in blue ink. 2 pages, 5¼x6¾, 1 sheet folded, front and verso. Aug. 14, 1957. Addressed to "Loretta". In full: "Thank you very much for your nice card concerning my recent appearance on the Arthur Godfrey Show. As you requested, I am enclosing four pictures [not included] but I wasn't able to get pictures of the other two acts. I would imagine your best advice concerning a professional singing career would come from a professional voice teacher and voice training is very valuable. However, I can tell you that my voice seems to improve just by doing a lot of signing. Also, with experience comes confidence, so gain as much experience as you can in front of a 'live' audience. This is about as much as I can tell you Loretta; good luck. Sincerely,". Dancer and stage and screen actor Ken Berry (1933-2018) is perhaps best known for his work in TV sitcoms, which also include F-Troop (1965-1967), Mayberry RFD (replacing Andy Griffith, 1968-1971) and Mama's Family (1983-1990). Berry, who was a dancer in the Billy Barnes Revue (1958-1964), was noticed by Lucille Ball, who offered him a job at Desilu. His first recurring role on the small screen was on The Ann Sothern Show (1958), produced by Desilu. The actor has also appeared as a guest star on several TV shows, has made several made-for-TV movies and has appeared in numerous feature films in addition to touring with stage productions. Lightly toned, stained and creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
