Baseball signed: "'Baseball'/Ken Burns/9/18/94". Diamond-brand "Professional League baseball, signed in black felt tip. Kenneth Lauren Burns was born on July 29, 1953. He is an American producer and director of documentary films. Burns is known for his style of using archival footage and photographs along with commentary. Two of his early works Brooklyn Bridge (1982) and Statue of Liberty (1986) were nominated for Academy Awards. His 1994 television series Baseball is an 18½ hour documentaryabout the American pass time: its creation and all of its history to modern day. It was broadcast on PBS and won an Emmy. His 1990 documentary film The Civil War, also broadcast on PBS has been honored with more than forty television awards and is often considered the filmmakers' finest work. Some of his other works include The Congress (1988), Thomas Jefferson (1997), The War (2007) and The National Parks: America's Best Idea (2009). Ink slightly smeared and faded.
