Photograph Signed: "Ken Cockrell/STS 56, 69, 80, 98, 111". Color, 10x8. Ken Cockrell (b. 1950) is a former Naval Aviator, and later NASA astronaut who, in 1974 (shortly before his designation as a naval aviator), graduated from the University of West Florida with a master's in aeronautical systems. After many years as a pilot for the Navy, Cockrell stepped down to pursue work at the Johnson Space Center as a research pilot. In 1990 he was designated to join the astronaut training program, and by the middle of 1991 Kenneth Cockrell was officially a NASA astronaut. During his time at NASA, Cockrell flew five space flights including roles as a Mission Specialist, Pilot, and Mission Commander aboard such shuttles as Space Shuttle Discovery, Space Shuttle Endeavor, Space Shuttle Columbia, and Space Shuttle Atlantis. Aboard these shuttles, Cockrell logged over 1,500 hours in space. He currently serves as a research pilot and instructor at Ellington Field in Texas. Fine condition.
