KEN GRIFFEY SR. The talented outfielder pens his name on this commemorative envelope Commemorative Envelope Signed: "Ken Griffey". 6½x3½. Postmarked Fountain Square, Cincinnati, Ohio, April 3, 1989. One 25¢ U.S. flag stamp affixed. Silk color cachet bordered in gold gilt frame showing a full view photo of Griffey in a Reds uniform facing left and swinging the bat. Career biography printed at lower right-hand corner. Ken Griffey Sr. (b. 1950), an unsung star of the 1975-1981 Cincinnati Reds, played for the team from 1973-1981 and 1988-1990. The right fielder and power hitter also played for the New York Yankees (1982-1986), Atlanta Braves (1986-1988), and Seattle Mariners (1990-1991). On August 31, 1990, Griffey and his son, Ken Griffey Jr., made history as the first father and son to play together as teammates after Griffey Sr. was signed by the Mariners. Two weeks later, on September 14, 1990, the Griffeys hit back-to-back homers in the first inning of Seattle's 7-5 loss to the California Angels. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
