KEN MORROW
Team member of the “Miracle on Ice” 1980 Olympic team signs in blue ink
Signature: “Ken/Morrow”, in blue ink, 5x3, with 2x3 b/w photo affixed at left. Ken Morrow (b. 1956) is an American former professional hockey defenseman best known for his role on the United States' 1980 Olympic gold medal team and the New York Islanders dynasty of the early 1980s. Morrow played collegiate hockey at Bowling Green State University before joining the U.S. Olympic team for the 1980 Winter Games in Lake Placid. He was a member of the American team that defeated the Soviet Union in the "Miracle on Ice" game and later secured the gold medal. Following the Olympics, Morrow joined the New York Islanders, who had selected him in the fourth round, 68th overall, of the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft. He became a regular on the Islanders' blue line during one of the most successful periods in franchise history. Morrow played his entire NHL career with the Islanders from 1980 to 1989 and was part of four consecutive Stanley Cup championship teams from 1980 through 1983. He appeared in 550 NHL regular-season games, recording 17 goals and 119 assists for 136 points. After retiring as a player, Morrow remained with the Islanders organization in scouting and player personnel roles for many years. Fine condition.
