KENNETH MARS. Carbon Contract signed: "Kenneth Mars" in ink
as Artist on last page, 4p, 8½x11, conjoined leaves. Beverly Hills,
California, 1979 January 5. "Standard AFTRA Exclusive Agency Contract Under
Rule 12-B" by which Mars retains David Shapira & Associates, Inc. as
"his sole and exclusive Agent in the transcription, radio broadcasting and
television industries..." for a period of one year, commencing on the date
of the contract. Standard commission was ten percent. Also signed:
"David Shapira" as Agent. In the year he signed this document,
Mars was seen in one feature film, The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again,
in two made-for-TV movies, Before and After and You Can't Take It With
You, and was a regular on Carol Burnett & Company, a four-episode
summer variety series. Comedian/actor Kenneth Mars (born in 1936) made a
smash film debut as the Nazi playwright of Springtime for Hitler in
Mel Brooks' The Producers (1968). He gave equally over-the-top
performances in Brooks' Young Frankenstein (1974) as well as What's Up
Doc? (1972) and Woody Allen's Radio Days (1986). A frequent voice
for animated characters in both films and on television, Mars has also been
a regular on several non-animated television series, including He and She
(1967), The Don Knotts Show (1970) and Shades of LA (1990). He was
heard as the voice of Grandpa in The Land Before Time XI: Invasion of
the Tinysauruses (2004), a role he had played in nine previous animated
films in The Land Before Time series. Lightly creased with folds,
light horizontal fold at Mars' signature. Staple holes at upper left blank
corners. Ink note (unknown hand) and receipt stamp at upper margin of first
page. Fine condition.
