KENNETH McMILLAN
Head and shoulders view of the character actor
Photograph signed: "Kenneth/McMillan". B/w, 8x10. Kenneth McMillan (1932-1989) made his film debut at age 41, but flourished in character roles thereafter, often cast as a gruff, unfriendly sort. He played a borough commander in The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, a cowardly sheriff in Salem's Lot, William Hurt's bitter paraplegic father in Eyewitness, a wily safe cracekr in The Pope of Greenwich Village, and a racist fire chief in Ragtime. He was the villainous Baron Harkonnen in Dune. Sometimes, however, he won more sympathetic roles, like Robert Duvall's detective partner in True Confessions and a judge deciding on Richard Dreyfuss's right to die in Whose Life Is It Anyway? He played comic roles as a baseball manager in Blue Skies Again and a senile veterinarian in Three Fugitives. He was Valerie Harper's irate boss on Rhoda, and had many guest appearances on the small tube. He appeared in the original Broadway casts of Streamers and American Buffalo, and won an Obie for Weekends Like Other People. Fine condition.
