KENNETH TIGAR
Kenneth Tigar signs an autograph biography.
Autograph Biography signed: "Kenneth Tigar", 1p, 6x9. No
place, no date, but circa July 1985. In full: "I started acting at
the age of 12 with the Boston Children's Theatre Stagemobile, playing
Gepetto in Pinocchio throughout the Boston playground system. I acted
everything from Chekhov to Gilbert and Sullivan at Harvard (where I also picked
up a B.A. and Ph.D. in German literature). During the late 60's, when not
acting, directing, or translating - Brecht, Wedekind, Bûchner - I helped
start a cabaret in Cambridge called The Proposition. (Others who came out
of this theatre include Jane Curtin, Fred Grandy, Paul Kreppel.) From there
I went to Vienna, ostensibly to escape the theatre - but I ended up acting in
German with Die Komödianten there for a year. Clearly I could avoid the
theatre no longer full time. I went to New York where I acted with the
American Place Theatre in, among other plays, Steve Tesich's Baba
Goya. Eventually time led me to Los Angeles where I've done scores of
television shows including Barney Miller, Hill St. Blues,
Lou Grant, Crazy Like a Fox, Special Bulletin, etc."
