KENNY BOWERS
Signature and inscription in black ink. Extremely Rare!
Inscribed Signature: "To Julie/Kenny Bowers". 4¾x2¾. Kenny
Bowers (1923-1991) had a promising start in stage and film musicals of
the 1940s, including both Broadway and movie versions of Best Foot
Forward (1943). He was in the original Broadway cast of Annie Get
Your Gun (1946-1947), and was featured in the Radio City Music Hall
review Sketches. Moving to Chicago, he starred on the stage there in
critically praised Honeymoon for Six (1952), and then had his own local
TV show, Kenny's Klub (1956). He had two minor hits on the pop
charts in 1957: "How Come?" and "Half a Mind". What happened to his career
after the 1950s is something of a mystery. One former associate, musical
producer Bob Green, told a fan website devoted to Bowers that Kenny had the
talent to become a major star, but may have lacked the drive. Toned. Fine
condition.
