KENNY ROGERS Kenny Rogers signs an agreement with United Support of Artists for Africa, Inc. Contract signed twice: "Kenny Rogers" on page 3, "K.R." on page 2. 3p, 8½x11. Beverly Hills, California, 1985 January 28. Agreement with United Support of Artists for Africa, Inc., whereby Rogers grants that charity exclusive rights to his performance in connection with the sound recording and video taping sessions held on or around January 28, 1985, any proceeds to be donated to the victims of the famine in Africa. A sentence on page 2 promising to indemnify USA for Africa for any loss resulting from his breach of any provision of the agreement has been crossed out, hence the need for Rogers' initials. Kenny Rogers (b. 1938), a former member of the First Edition and the New Christy Minstrels, became a popular country and pop solo artist with hits including "The Gambler" (1976) and "Lady" (1981). Even after his record sales declined, Rogers remained a popular celebrity with his concerts, made for TV movies (beginning with The Gambler, 1980) and chain of roast chicken restaurants. Lightly creased. Staple holes in upper left corner of both pages. Otherwise, fine condition.
