KENNY ROGERS
He signs corporate minutes as Chairman of Kenny Rogers Roasters
Typed Document Signed: "Kenny Rogers" as Chairman, 1p, 8½x11. No place, no date. Ending paragraph of corporate minutes. In full: "There being no further business to come before the meeting, upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned." Also signed: "Michael Gesas" as Secretary. Probably the minutes for a meeting of Kenny Rogers Roasters, which Rogers and a developer of Kentucky Fried Chicken introduced in 1991. In 1995, they expanded their menu and had grown to 350 restaurants, introducing operations in Canada, the Middle East and Asia. The company was acquired by Nathan's Famous, Inc. on April 1, 1999, although Kenny Rogers Roasters still operates in California. Kenny Rogers (1938-2020), a former member of the First Edition and the New Christy Minstrels, became a popular country and pop solo artist with hits including "The Gambler" (1976) and "Lady" (1981). Even after his record sales declined, Rogers remained a popular celebrity with his concerts, made for TV movies (beginning with The Gambler, 1980) and chain of roast chicken restaurants. Lightly creased. Light paper clip impression to left of Rogers' signature. Three file holes at blank left margin. Fine condition.
