KIERON MOORE
Renowned Irish actor signs in 3½x5½ black and white photograph in
blue ink
Inscribed photograph signed: "To Wesley,/ Kieron Moore" in
blue felt tip. B/w, 3½x5½. Irish actor Kieron Moore (1924-2007) grew up
in family of hardcore Irish language and heritage supporters, many who were in
the arts, and Moore's career really began when he was invited to join the Abbey
Players, a famous Irish stage company. He first appeared on film in the leading
role for A Man About the House (1947) and in Mine Own
Executioner (1947) which won rave reviews; however, his best known work
in Vivien Leigh's Anna Karenina (1948) as Count Vronsky, which
also earned his the worst reviews. His career recovered and he continued to work
in television, stage and films. Moore retired from acting in 1974 and instead
focused on social activism and literature studies. Corners rounded. Pencil notes
on verso in unknown hand. Otherwise, fine condition.
