KIM HUNTER
The matured actress signs her name in purple felt tip on this 7½x9¼,
black and white photograph
Photograph signed: "Kim Hunter". B/w, 7½x9¼. Kim Hunter
(1922-2002), born Janet Cole, made her film debut in 1943 in The
Seventh Victim. Four years later, she created the role of Stella
Kowalski in the Broadway production of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named
Desire. Hunter reprised the role in the 1951 film version, winning the
Best Supporting Actress Oscar. Blacklisted during the McCarthy era,
she was later the star witness in a trial that discredited the charges, paving
the way for dozens of other performers to return to their careers. Later in
her career, Hunter concentrated largely on stage and television work, but
appeared in the Planet of the Apes films (1968, 1970, 1971) and in
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (1997). She was 79 when
she died on September 11, 2002. Ink note on verso (no show through). Fine
condition.
