KING GEORGE II reigned from 1727-1760. HENRY FOX was Secretary at War from 1746-1754 and Secretary of State from 1755-1756. The King declared war on Spain in 1739. The Spanish war extended into the 1740s as part of the War of Austrian Succession, in which England fought against French dominance in Europe. The 1750s found England still at war with France over imperial claims. Fighting was intense in Europe and there was fighting in North America as well. King George II died of a stroke on October 25, 1760. Lightly soiled. ¼-inch vertical tear at upper blank margin. Overall, fine condition.
