Two Manuscript DsS: "George R" (signed twice) as King and "W. Pitt" (twice) as Prime Minister, 2 pages, 11x18½, front and verso; one complete document on each side. No place, no date. William Pitt served as Prime Minister from 1783-1801 and 1804-1806. George III reigned from 1760-1820. The boldness of the King's signature indicates it was signed in the 1780s. Headed: "Abstract of the Charge of the foregoing Establishment", listing, in columns: "Pay per diem", "Pay of Commissioned officers, non-commissioned officers and Private Men", "Clothing of Non-commissioned Officers and Private Men", "Agency", "Allowances to Captains Paymasters Surgeons" and "Total Charges for 365 days". Those paid include: "General and General Staff Officers", "Horse and Grenadier Guards", "The King's own Regiment of Dragoons" and "An Independent Company of Invalids". Listed on verso are 34 counties and castles and "Total Charge for 365 Days". The total from the verso has been brought to this side for a grand total of £622,081.13.8¼. Silked. Folds, separations at folds have been repaired by silking. Separation affects legibility of 1 locale. Light show through of ink on verso. Lightly shaded. Irregular lower edge. Pencil notes (unknown hand) at lower locale side. Overall, fine condition.
