The King and Prime Minister sign off on an audit of the accounts of the American Revolutionary War-era Paymaster General to the Forces.
Manuscript DS: "George R" as King of England at head of first page and "W. Pitt" as Prime Minister on second page, 2 pages, 9½x14. Our Court at Saint James's, 1792 August 1. To the Commissioners for auditing public accounts listing "Balances amounting to the Sum of £317.461.19.4 and due to Richard Rigby Esqr late Paymaster General of Our Forces from the undermentioned Deputy Paymasters...authorizing you to pass and allow the said Balances to the Credit of the late Richard Rigby in his final account...." Listed are Deputy Paymasters from Quebec, Nova Scotia, Carolina, New York, West Indies and Gibraltar. Also signed: "Bagham" and "Rd Hopkins". Noted at bottom of second page: "Allowance in the Account of the late Richd Rigby Esqr of the Sum of £317.461.19.4 Balance due to him from Dep. Of Paymt abroad". RICHARD RIGBY (1722-1788) was Paymaster General to the Forces from 1768-1782 which included the entire Revolutionary War. Shaded. Lightly soiled. Lightly stained. Horizontal folds show some 1-inch separations (all intact). Tape repairs at folds on verso. Vertical fold touches "WP" in Pitt's signature. Vertical fold touches "G" in George. Fine condition.
