KING GEORGE VI (ENGLAND). Autograph Memorandum signed:
"Albert" as Duke of York, 2p, 7x4. The Royal Lodge, Windsor,
1934 February 25. On his personal stationery printed at top:
"Memorandum/from/H.R.H. The Duke of York." To Mr. Lehmann in London. In
full: "I received your Estimate for the various items to be done at 145
Piccadilly. I approve of this. Please send the 2 Full Shade Pink Bedside Lamps
for the room here when finished & not to London. I am returning your silk
patterns next Tuesday on my return to London." Two
years later, his father King George V died and his older brother succeeded to
the throne as King Edward VIII. When his brother abdicated on December 11, 1936
to marry American divorcée Wallis Simpson, the Duke of York, father of
Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret, became King George VI and reigned from
1936-1952. Creased and lightly soiled. Nicked at top center edge at mid-vertical
fold. Overall, fine condition.
