The world-record holding former King of Cambodia writes a short note
thanking the recipient for his letter
Autograph Note signed: "N. Sihanouk". 6x5¼ folded, 12x5¼
unfolded card affixed with a photograph of a geologic formation and bearing the
printed message: "Thank you very much for your kindness and thoughtfulness.
Norodom Sihanouk of Cambodia." Sihanouk has added, in his own hand: "Peking,
August 3,1988", as well as: ", your kind letter dated 25/6/88. Sincerely
yours,". He has also handwritten the name and address of the recipient.
Norodom Sihanouk (1922-2012), the son of King Norodom Suramarit and
Queen Sisowath Kossamak of Cambodia, has held so many positions since 1941
that he is listed in The Guinness Book of World Records as the
politician who has occupied the world's largest variety of political
offices. These offices include two terms as King (April 25,
1941-March 2, 1955 and September 24, 1993-October 7, 2004), two as Sovereign
Prince, one as President, two as Prime Minister and one as
Cambodia's non-titled Head of State. Since October 20, 2004, his title
has been King-Father, although his last actual period of rule over the
country was from November 9, 1953-March 18, 1970. Sihanouk went into
self-imposed exile in January 2004, living first in North Korea and later
in Beijing, China. Photograph lightly lifted. Minor surface creases (not
effecting signature). Otherwise, fine condition.
