KIRK GIBSON
The MLB star hitter signs his Fleer trading card in blue ink
Trading/sports card signed: "Kirk/ Gibson" in blue ink. 2½x3½ Fleer trading card featuring a photo of Gibson on front and player stats on verso. Outfielder Kirk Gibson was one of baseball's most feared sluggers in a 17-year Major League career (1979-1995) that began with the Detroit Tigers (9 seasons) and ended with the same team (3 seasons). He was a key component of the powerhouse 1984 Tigers teamwhich won 104 regular season games on its way to the World Series triumph shown here. Gibson also shined for the Los Angeles Dodgers for three seasons, winning the NL MVP award in 1988. That same year, an injured - virtually crippled - Gibson came off the bench for a come from behind 2-run, game-winning homer off Oakland A's star closer Dennis Eckersley in Game One of the 1988 World Series, starting the Dodgers on their way to an upset win in 5 games. Incredibly, Gibson an MVP in 1988 and several times in the running for that award, was never named to an All-Star team. Gibson was later a coach and broadcaster for the Tigers. On July 1, 2010, he was named manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Slightly toned. Corners rounded. Otherwise, fine condition.
