KRYSTINE HOBSON
Baseball player's wife thanks photograph for the great pictures
Autograph letter signed: "Matt, My name is Krystine Hobson - Butch's wife, I wanted to write and say thank you for all the wonderful pictures you send to Butch and the great up-dating cards you send. We've both enjoyed them so much. I don't know if I will ever have the honor of meeting you so I wanted to drop you a note telling you Thanks for the little bit of outdoor adventure you bring to us through the spectacular photographs. Butch has spoken so highly of you and I regret that our paths haven't cross for some time but our thoughts are with you. Be safe & thanks again for the extra smiles. Sincerely". Krystine Hobson is the second wife of baseball player Butch Hobson; together they have 4 children. Clavell "Butch" Hobson (b. 1951), a football star at the University of Alabama, played third base for the Boston Red Sox from 1975-1980, and for one season each with the Angels and Yankees. A power hitter but a weak fielder, Hobson hit the most homers ever by a Red Sox third baseman in 1977 (30), but also led the AL in strikeouts that year. In 1978, Hobson continued to hit, but led the league in errors and logged the worst fielding average by a regular Major League player in 60 years (.899). Hobson later managed the Red Sox (1992-1994), but was fired by the Phillies as manager of their AAA affiliate two years later for cocaine possession. He continues to manage in the lower minors, signing with the Lancaster Barnstormers in 2010. His son, K. C. Hobson, is now playing in the Toronto Blue Jays farm system. Normal mailing folds. Light surface creases. Corners rounded. Deep toning marks on top and bottom margins. Otherwise, fine condition.
