Prize medal. Swiss scientist Kurt Wüthrich received the Nobel Prize in
Chemistry in 2002 for developing techniques to identify and analyze
proteins and other large molecules. Wüthrich showed that nuclear magnetic
resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, placing a sample in a strong magnetic field and
bombarding it with radio waves, could be used successfully to study large
molecules as well as small ones. He has been a professor at the Swiss Federal
Institute of Technology since 1969 and a visiting professor at the Scripps
Institute in California since 2001. Fine condition.
