Kurtwood Smith (b. 1943) is a veteran character actor with a particular talent for
unsympathetic roles, like the rigid father who drives his son to suicide in Dead Poet's Society
(1989) and comically tough dad Red Forman on That '70s Show (1998-2006). Other
prominent film roles he's featured in have included Robocop (1987), Citizen Ruth (1996),
and Turbo (2013). Smith has played roles in multiple Sci-fi genre films and television shows
such as Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991), The X-Files, and Star Trek:
