Composer, songwriter and author JERRY HERMAN (1931-2019) is the winner of three Tony Awards - two in 1964 for Hello, Dolly! (for which he also won a Grammy Award in 1965) and one in 1984 for La Cage aux Follies. He has also been nominated for five Tonys - including two nominations for Mame in 1966. Herman, who also performs and plays the piano in some of his productions was the star of An Evening with Jerry Herman, which played on Broadway from July 28-August 23, 1998. Actor GENE BARRY (1919-2009) starred in radio, stage, film and television. He is best known for his portrayal of dapper, well-dressed leading characters in television series. Barry's television works include Our Miss Brooks, Bat Masterson, Burke's Law and The Name of the Game. In 1964, Burke's Law won a Golden Globe Award for Best Television Show; Gene Barry won a Golden Globe Award for Best Television Star (Male). Always the epitome of diamond-in-the-rough masculinity, Barry astounded his fans in the mid-1980s by accepting the role of an aging homosexual in the stage musical version of the French film comedy La Cage Aux Follies. La Cage Aux Folles ["The Bird Cage"] won six Tony Awards on Broadway, including one for Jerry Herman. Barry received a nomination for his starring role. Surface lightly rubbed.
