Earl and Countess of Longford, is known for her historical works, which
include Mary, Queen of Scots (1969), Cromwell, Our Chief of Men
(1973) and Marie Antoinette: The Journey (2002). She has also written a
series of detective stories featuring Jemima Shore. A Roman Catholic,
Lady Fraser caused a scandal in 1977 when she left her husband for playwright
Harold Pinter, whom she married in 1980. HUGH FRASER (1918-1984) was a

godson of G. K. Chesterton, began in commercial advertising for Shell and other

Bentley illustrated over 70 books, the most beloved of which was probably T.
S. Elliot's Ole Possum's Book of Practical Cats (1939, the basis
for the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Cats). Bentley also wrote and
illustrated books of his own. Notable among these were The White Liar's
Engagement Book and Golden Sovereigns - and Some of Lesser Value -from
Boadicea to Elizabeth II. He also published an autobiography. Several
unsigned newspaper and book clippings affixed. Ink and pencil notes from
