THE LADY EVE MOVIE CAST: HENRY FONDA and BARBARA STANWYCK
Henry Fonda and Barbara Stanwyck sign a black and white movie still form their film The Lady Eve.
Photograph signed: "Henry Fonda" and "Barbara Stanwyck". B/w, 10x8. Preston Sturges wrote and directed this 1941classic romantic comedy starring Henry Fonda and Barbara Stanwyck, who are involved in a scintillating battle of the sexes as Sturges points up the terrors of sexual passion and the unattainability of the romantic ideal. One of the cinema's most enduring actors, FONDA enjoyed a highly successful career spanning close to a half century, appearing in such films as Jezebel, Jesse James, Young Mr. Lincoln, Drums Along the Mohawk and The Grapes of Wrath. In March 1982, five months before he died at the age of 77, Henry Fonda won his only Academy Award for his performance in On Golden Pond, co-starring Katharine Hepburn and his daughter, Jane Fonda. Orphaned at four and a Ziegfield chorus girl at 15, STANWYCK (1907-1990) was a Broadway star by the late 1920s. Moving to Hollywood after 1930, she was often cast as a tough-minded working girl who rarely met a happy ending. She received Oscar nominations for Stella Dallas (1937), Ball of Fire (1941), Double Indemnity (1944) and Sorry, Wrong Number (1948). Stanwyck enjoyed renewed popularity on television, especially as the star of the Western series The Big Valley (1965-1969), for which she won an Emmy Award. She later starred on the small screen in the popular miniseries, The Thorn Birds (1983), and in The Colbys (1985), a spin-off of the nighttime soap, Dynasty. Ink note on verso (no show through). Slightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
