LANA TURNER and DAVID LANG
Both sign a 1968 contract giving Turner a 6-month option on the rights to Lang's screenplay, The Affair.
Documentary Letter signed: "Lana Turner", "David Lang", 1 page, 8½x13. Los Angeles, California, 1968 January 31. Turner pays $1,500 for an option on Lang's screenplay titled The Affair, with an option for a 6-month extension at the same price. These payments are to be applied to the purchase price of $20,000 if Turner decides to buy the rights. One of the most glamorous superstars of Hollywood's golden era, LANA TURNER (1921-1995) made her film debut in 1937's They Won't Forget. Called "The Sweater Girl", emphasizing her main qualifications at the time, she ranked among the nation's top pin-up girls. In 1957, she was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Actress in Peyton Place. DAVID LANG was a veteran Hollywood screenwriter, but most of his scripts had been Westerns, beginning with Northwest Rangers (1942). In the 1960s, Lang was active in television, writing multiple episodes of Maverick and Bonanza. The Affair was never made into a movie, although a TV film with the same title and different author appeared in 1973. Fold creases not near signature. File holes at upper margin. Pencil note (unknown hand) at upper right corner. Staple holes at upper left corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
