LARAINE DAY
Photo in a conservative suit, inscribed to "The Body Shop."
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To The Body Shop/Best -/Laraine
Day". B/w, 8x10. Laraine Day (1917-2007) reached stardom as
Nurse Lamont opposite Lew Ayres in a series of six Dr. Kildare
films (1939-1942). Other starring roles for Day included Hitchcock's
Foreign Correspondent (1940), The Story of Dr. Wassell (1944),
My Dear Secretary (1948) and The High and the Mighty (1954). Day
passed up the co-starring role in It's a Wonderful Life (1946), to make
The Locket that same year. She regarded the The Locket as her best
film. She was married to baseball manager Leo Durocher from
1947-1960. While Durocher managed the New York Giants, Day had a local TV
show about A Day with the Giants. This item is from the estate of
actress Laraine Day, formerly married from 1947 to 1960 to baseball Hall of Fame
manager Leo Durocher. They enjoyed the friendship of US Presidents,
Hollywood celebrities and baseball veterans, many of whom inscribed remembrances
to the couple. Toned around edges. Lightly bowed. Signature lightly beaded but
legible. Minor printing defects. Otherwise, fine condition.
