Sports card signed: "Larry Andersen", in blue felt tip, 2½x3½.
Larry Andersen (b. 1953) played for the Indians, Mariners,
Phillies, Astros, Red Sox and the Padres between 1975 and 1994. A pitcher out
of Interlake High, Andersen was selected in the 7th round of the 1971 amateur
drafts. On the mound he shot a fiery fast ball, as well as an unbeatable
slider. In 1981 he was one of the Mariners top pitchers, finishing 2nd in the
club in appearances in saves. In 1987, while with the Astros, he posted 9
wins, 94 strikeouts and 101 innings pitched--a career high. He
appeared in two World Series with the Phillies, once in 1983 and 1993.
His career record stands with a 40-39 win-loss record, .15 ERA and 758
strikeouts in 699 games pitched. Lightly toned at edges.
