LAST OF THE BADMEN MOVIE CAST: GEORGE MONTGOMERY, MICHAEL ANSARA
The stars sign this still from 1957 western, inscribed and dated in 1999.
Inscribed Photograph Signed: "For Glenn/best of all--/George Montgomery/99" and, "To Glenn/Michael/Ansara." Sepia toned, 10x8 captioned still. Last of the Badmen (1957) follows two Chicago detectives on their travels out west to find killers of their colleague. George Montgomery (1916-2000), an action hero of mostly war and Western films of the 1940s and 1950s, also directed several films in the 1960s. A former heavyweight boxer and stunt man before becoming a leading man, Montgomery was married for nineteen years to singer/TV personality Dinah Shore, appearing often on her show after their amicable divorce. His Oscar nomination for Best Art Direction (Ladies in Retirement, 1941) foreshadowed his second successful career as a furniture designer. Montgomery, who also designed and built 11 homes, was also a self-taught, talented artist. In films from 1944, Michael Ansara (1922-2013) is best known for his role as Cochise on the TV series, Broken Arrow (1956-1958). Although he has written that he was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on April 15, 1922, he was actually born on that day in Syria and moved with his American parents to Lowell when he was two years old. Ansara has often been cast as American Indians, Mexicans and Star Trek Klingons. He has also made dozens of guest appearances on TV series and does voice work for animated cartoons. Ansara was married to actress Barbara Eden from 1958 until their divorce in 1974. Bowed. Creased and toned. Corners worn, staple holes. Otherwise, fine condition.
