Laurence Curtis signed this letter, typed to an autograph hunter on his personalized stationery, in 1976. He was U. S. Representative from Massachusetts' 10th Congressional District.
Typed letter signed "Laurence Curtis". 1 page, 8½x11, on Curtis' personalized stationery. Jan. 8, 1976. Addressed to Mr. Danny Franklin, Phoenix, Arizona. In full: "Dear Mr. Franklin: Many thanks for your letter of December 7, 1975. I am, of course, delighted to hear that my political efforts met with your approval. I am glad you know the score and take an interest and wish that more people did. I enclose an autographed photograph as requested. Sincerely Yours, Laurence Curtis". Republican lawyer Curtis (1893-1989) was a lawyer and secretary to Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. before being elected U. S. Representative from Massachusetts 10th Congressional District (1953-1963). He was also a member of the Massachusetts house of representatives (1933-1936) and the Massachusetts senate (1936-1941) and state treasurer (1947-1948). Curtis lost his leg during World War I after crashing during a training flight. Lightly toned and creased. Folded in half and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
