Law and Order (1990-2010) was the longest-running crime procedural in TV history, and second only to Gunsmoke as the longest-running series of any kind. The Emmy-winning Outstanding Drama Series of 1997, it was nominated for that honor eleven consecutive years, tying the record of Cheers and M*A*S*H. The hour-long drama included both a crime investigation and the follow-up prosecution. It generated several spin-offs, including Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and Law and Order: Los Angeles. (The original series was set in New York City.) There were many cast changes during this long run. The signers here were all present during the 2002-2003 season. SAM WATERSTON (b. 1940) played Assistant District Attorney Jack McCoy from 1994 to 2009, rising to District Attorney in the show's final season. Waterston earned six Emmy nominations, three of them for Law and Order, and an Oscar nomination for The Killing Fields. His screen roles have included Abraham Lincoln and J. Robert Oppenheimer. S. EPATHA MERKERSON (b. 1952) played Lt. Anita Van Buren for 16 seasons. Nominated for a Tony for Come Back Little Sheba, Merkerson also won an NAACP Image Award for the HBO film Lackawanna Blues. JERRY ORBACH (1935-2004) was Detective Lennie Briscoe, 1991-2004, leaving the show only when afflicted with terminal cancer. Although he had appeared often on TV, Orbach was previously best known for his stage work: an original cast member of The Fantasticks, the first Billy Flynn in Chicago, and a Tony winner for Promises, Promises. FRED THOMPSON (1942-2015), first seen by TV audiences as Minority Counsel to the Senate Select Committee on Watergate, was a US Senator from Tennessee (1994-2003) and an unannounced Presidential candidate (briefly) in 2008. He played District Attorney Arthur Branch on Law and Order from 2002 to 2007. JESSE L. MARTIN (b. 1969) played Detective Ed Green from 1999 to 2008. His best known role up to that time had been that of Tom Collins in the Broadway hit Rent. German-born actress ELIZABETH ROHM (b. 1973), whose previous TV series included One Life to Live and Angel, played Assistant DA Serena Southerlyn from 2001 to 2005. Printed filing holes at left edge. Bottom left corner creased with light moisture stains. Otherwise, fine condition.
