Taylor (b. 1959) was named first-team All-Pro in each of his first nine
seasons. Starting in Taylor's first season, his New York Giants began a
10-season streak in which they made the playoffs six times and won two Super
Bowls. During 13 seasons with the Giants, he recorded 132.5 quarterback
sacks, 1,088 tackles, 33 forced fumbles, 10 fumble recoveries, and nine
interceptions. His total does not include the 9.5 sacks he recorded as a
rookie, since the sack did not become an official NFL statistic until 1982. A
10-time Pro Bowl selection, Taylor was named to the NFL's 75th Anniversary
All-Time Team in 1994 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999.
Despite his success on the field, Taylor was a notorious substance abuser, an
affliction he now seems to have overcome. Fine condition.
