Welk sends a note to a fan, alone with Wallace and Kaye on verso
Autograph note signed: "To My Good Friend/George Sanders./In appreciation/Lawrence Welk" and on verso: "To George/with Many Thanks & Best/Scottish Wishes!/Dinah Kaye" and "To George/Thanks again for/all your help in pushing/me up-/Jerry Wallace", 7¼x10 album leaf with b/w photos at signatures. LAWRENCE WELK (1903-1992) was America's most successful bandleader. The heavy-accented North Dakotan appeared on ABC from 1955-1971 and was syndicated from 1971-1982 with his "champagne music". Beginning in 1987, five years after Welk retired, reruns of his music became a popular staple of public television, and after Welk's death, his band continued to perform at the Champagne Music Theater in Branson, Missouri. JERRY WALLACE was a pop act during the late 1950s with a pair of huge hits - "How the Time Flies" and the even bigger "Primrose Lane". He successfully migrated to the country field during the 1960s and 1970s with such Top-Ten hits as "If You Leave Me Tonight I'll Cry" and "Don't Give Up on Me". Jazz vocalist DINAH KAYE recorded during the years 1947-1949. One of her popular recordings was with Tubby Sykes and The Powerhouse 7 on the album The Roaring 20's. Lightly creased and rippled. Shaded. Page numbers at bottom corners (unknown hand). Show through of ink to both sides. Paper remnant below Welk's signature. Glue remnants at photos.
