Autograph Letter Signed: "Lee de Forest", 1p, 5½x8¼. Posada Del Sol stationery, Mexico City, March 26, [1947]. Receipt stamp at bottom, "APR 3 - 1947". To Mr. Roe. In full: "It was thoughtful of you to send me the tear-sheets re: the recent A.I.E.E. meeting, which I have read with much interest. Please accept my thanks for this. P.S. After May 7 my address will be Am. Television Inc. 5050 No. Broadway Chicago." Founded in 1884, the A.I.E.E. was the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, now the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers. Lee de Forest patented more than 300 inventions in wireless telegraphy, radio telephony, sound-on-film talking pictures, high-speed facsimile transmission, television, radiotherapy and related areas. One of his most important inventions was the vacuum tube that was used in radios and televisions. Lightly creased, soiled. Usual folds. Paper clip stain at upper margin.
