Printed Card signed in ink: "Lee E Emerson", 6½x4 Card with
printed photos of Emerson and of the State Capitol, Montpelier, Vermont. Affixed
to an 8½x11 page also bearing a captioned newspaper photo of him. LEE EARL
EMERSON (1898-1976) served as Speaker of the Vermont House, President Pro
Tem of the State Senate, and Lieutenant Governor before serving two terms as the
State's Governor (1951-1955). Emerson passed a bonus bill for Vermont
veterans of the Korean War, and another to authorize municipal forests, and
instituted a study of racial discrimination in the state. He later ran
unsuccessfully in Republican primaries for the US House and Senate. Ralph
Errington Ward (1926-2009) a fighter pilot and squadron commander in the
China-Burma-India Theater of World War II, went on to become President and CEO
of Cheseborough-Ponds, Inc., transforming the cosmetics firm into a major home
