LEE GREENWOOD
Black and white publicity photograph of the country musician leaning against a wall
Printed Photograph signed in Ink: "Lee Greenwood" in black felt tip, b/w, 8x10. Name
imprinted at lower margin. Shortly after signing with Capitol Records in 1990, country
singer-songwriter Lee Greenwood (b. 1942) saw his 1983 award-winning song, "God Bless
the U.S.A." become the anthem of the 1990-1991 Gulf War. The song again brought
inspiration to the nation after the tragedies of September 11, 2001, and in 2003, the year of
the song's 20th anniversary, it was voted the "most recognizable patriotic song" in an online
poll. From 1982 to 1986, Greenwood racked up seven number one hits: "Somebody's
Gonna Love You" (1983), "Going, Going, Gone" (1984), "Dixie Road" (1985), "I Don't
Mind the Thorns (If You're the Rose)" (1985), "Don't Underestimate My Love for You"
(1986), "Hearts Aren't Made to Break (They're Made to Love)" (1986), and "Mornin' Ride"
(1986). Lightly creased at upper and lower right-hand corners. Minor surface creases (not
evident head-on) at lower right background. Otherwise, fine condition.
