LEE J. COBB. Meal Ticket signed: "Lee J Cobb", 4¼x7. Barstow, California, 1958 July 14. Check No. 20011 from Wills' restaurant. Cobb, who ordered stroganoff for $2.50, has also written: "Tip. .50". Order information and date in unknown hand. In the year he signed this meal ticket, Cobb appeared in three films: The Brothers Karamazov, Man of the West and Party Girl. He also made guest appearances on TV's Frontier Justice and Zane Grey Theatre. Character actor Lee J. Cobb (1911-1976) first appeared on stage in 1931, on film in 1937. He was nominated for two Oscars (On The Waterfront, 1954; The Brothers Karamazov, 1958) and two Golden Globes (Twelve Angry Men, 1957; Come Blow Your Horn, 1963), all in the Supporting Actor category. Cobb also played Judge Garth in TV's The Virginian (1962-1966). He is best remembered as Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman, a role he developed for theater (1949) and reprised on television (1966). Slightly creased at upper margin, register holes at upper left margin. Fine condition.
