LEE PATTERSON, JILL BENNETT
Famed actors in British films Lee Patterson and Jill Bennett both signed this album leaf.
Signatures: "Lee Patterson", and "Jill Bennett" on verso, 5x4. Lee Patterson (1929-2007) was a film and television actor, popular in both British and American films during the 1950's and 1960's. Originally from British Columbia, Canada, Patterson moved to England where he found work portraying an American in films such as The Good Die Young (1954), Above Us the Waves (1955) and Checkpoint (1956). Tall, handsome, and a true hunk of a man, Patterson was a favorite for gritty, action packed roles, as well as war/crime dramas. In the 1960's he moved to America where he became a television star, most famous for Surfside 6 (1960-1962) in which he had a regular role as hunky Detective Dave Thorne. Into the 1980's Patterson was featured in Texas (1980-1981), Airplane II: The Sequel (1982) and The A-Team (1984). He made his last on screen performance in the 1994 film Healer, portraying Sergeant Gaylor. After which he retired to Texas where he remained for the rest of his days. When he died from congestive heart failure in 2007, his death went unreported for nearly 1 year. English actress Jill Bennett (1931-1990) was best known for her stage work, but she also appeared in several films, beginning with Moulin Rouge (1952) and on TV dramas. She was the fourth wife of playwright John Osborne, who wrote roles for her into his plays until their acrimonious divorce in 1978. Long suffering from depression, she committed suicide in 1990. Corners lightly rounded. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Fine condition.
