Check filled out and signed: "W Lee Tracy", 6¼x2¾. New York, 1933 May 27. Check No. 4, drawn on Tracy's account at The Chase National Bank, Times Square Branch, payable to "Hotel Piccadilly" for $56.33. Stamped endorsements on verso. In the year he signed this check, Tracy appeared in seven motion pictures: Turn Back the Clock, Bombshell, Dinner at Eight, The Nuisance, Private Jones, Advice to the Lovelorn and Clear All Wires. Actor Lee Tracy (1898-1968), born William Lee Tracy, was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in 1964 for The Best Man, his final film. Tracy, who had become a Broadway star in 1924, had made his film debut in 1929. His long list of feature film credits includes The Lemon Drop Kid (1934) and Sutter's Gold (1936), and Tracy also starred in several early TV series, The Amazing Mr. Malone (1951), Martin Kane, Private Eye (1952-1953) and New York Confidential (1959). He also made several TV guest appearances, from two episodes of The Chevrolet Tele-Theatre in 1949 to Ben Casey in 1965. Bank cancellation holes touch date and 2 lines of writing. Lightly stained at lower blank portion. Overall, fine condition.
