Hyams" in blue ink. Sepia, 8x10. Film actress Leila Hyams (1905-1977)
was the daughter of New York vaudeville comedy performers John Hyams and Leila
McIntyre, and she would often perform with them as a child before becoming a
model in her teens. She began working as a silent film actress, staring in
productions such as Alias Jimmy Valentine (1928) and The
Thirteenth Chair (1929); however, she is best remembered for her rold in
1930s horror movies like Freaks (1932) and Island of Lost
Souls (1932). Although she retired early from acting in 1936, she
remained part of the Hollywood community for the rest of her life. Very toned.
Corners rounded. Light surface creases. Small stains on verso. Otherwise, fine
condition.
