Helene Bertha Amalie Leni Riefenstahl (1902-2003) acted in German
movies (1926-1933), then revealed enormous talent as a director of
documentary films in Nazi Germany, most importantly Triumph of the
Will (1934) and Olympia (1936). Both films were remarkable
achievements in film for their time, but also Nazi propaganda to the outside
world. The precision and symmetry in the two epic films displayed what
Hitler wanted the world to see, his "perfect" nation. Active as an artist until
late in her life, she was dogged by angry criticism of her close association
with top Nazi leaders, including Hitler and Goebbels. Evenly toned. Unknown stain at center bottom
edge. Corners worn. Fine condition.
