Archbishop Leo Binz (1900-1979) had been ordained as a Priest in 1924 and was named a Bishop in 1942. From 1949-1954, he served as Coadjutor Archbishop of Dubuque, becoming the sixth Bishop and fourth Archbishop of Dubuque in 1954. After serving in the position until 1962, Binz was named Archbishop of St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1966, the Vatican added "and Minneapolis" to the title to reflect the equal stature of the "twin cities", and Binz served as Archbishop of St. Paul and Minneapolis until 1975. After his death in 1979, Binz was named an Archbishop Emeritus. Two items.
