LEO "PANCHO" CARILLO
Signature from Carillo in blue ink, dated 1936
Inscribed signature: "To John/Leo Carillo/1936", in blue ink, 4x4½. After portraying Pancho, the Cisco Kid's sidekick in four films (1948-1949), Leo Carrillo (1880-1961) repeated the role when he and Duncan Reynaldo (as Cisco) starred in television's The Cisco Kid in 156 half-hour episodes from 1950-1956. Leo Carrillo State Park and Leo Carrillo Beach, both in California, were named after the actor, who also served on the State Park and Recreation Commission. He was related by blood and marriage to a long line of distinguished original Californians. Carrillo, who appeared in his first film in 1927 (a silent), had his first starring role in Mr. Antonio (1929). Edges frayed and very jagged. Light surface creases. Small tear on left edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
