The ballet master and Broadway choreographer sends a warm thank you
letter in 1972.
Typed letter signed: "Leon" in black ink. 1 page, 7¼x10½. No
place, January 21, 1972. On personal letterhead to Gerald G. Wagner, Washington,
D.C. in full: "Dear Gerry, Thank you for you lessons in Burmese and
German and for your dashes of corrections--especially in the name 'Gerry'. My,
what a boo boo! U Thant's (not Mr. Thant) follow up letter has been miserably
detained due to an over abundance of illness in the Leonidoff household. The old
flu found its way to our door and everything stood still. Sorry for the delay in
answering you but I trust you understand and I do so hope the photo of U Thant
will become a reality. Sincere warm regards." Leon Leonidoff (1894-1989)
was a ballet dancerand choreographer with 6 Broadway credits to his
name, including The Well of Romance (1930), Virginia (1937) and
his choreography debut Nine-Fifteen Revue (1930). His last Broadway
show Sing Out, Sweet Land ran for 3 months from December 1944 to March
1945. He also choreographed for the films I pagliacci (1931),
When You're in Love (1937) and Sunny (1941). Normal
mailing folds. Fine condition.
