LEON R. PESCHERETThe famed designer known for his etchings and illustrations signs this album leaf Autograph Sentiment Signed: “a few words on a great art/ Color Etching/ Leon R. Pescheret/ 2/26/38” 4½x3. Newspaper photo, b/w,1¾x2¼, attached at left-hand side. Typed caption, "Leon R. Pescheret/ Only color Etcher in U.S.A." Leon Rene Pescheret (1892-1971) was a designer who worked as a watercolorist, an etcher, and an illustrator. Following his relocation to the United States, he served in the Army during World War I. Pescheret wrote and created illustrations for a few different books: His Principle and Practice of Interior Decorating and An Introduction to Color Etching were published several decades apart, in 1952 and 1925 respectively. He also illustrated two books written by Alfred Hoyt Granger: Chicago Welcomes You (1933) and The Spirit of Vienna (1935). A handful of notable venues for which Pescheret did work include the British Museum, Drake Hotel in Chicago the Peoria, Illinois Country Club. Lightly toned. Left edge irregular from being torn from album. Otherwise, fine condition.
