LEONARD BERNSTEIN. Signature: "Best wishes/Leonard Bernstein", 5x3 card. Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990) rose to fame as the conductor of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra (1958-1969). The varied works of the versatile composer, conductor and pianist include the musicals On the Town (1944) and West Side Story (1957). His symphonies include The Age of Anxiety (1949) and Mass (commissioned by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis for the opening of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. in 1971). Bernstein also received an Academy Award for his score for On the Waterfront (1954). Minor paper loss on verso, light show through at the "s" of wishes. Fine condition.
