Typed letter signed "Leopold Stokowski" in blue ink. With blue ink underlinings in letter in unknown hand. 1 page, 8½x5½, on Stokowski's personalized stationery. New York City, June 28, 1968. Addressed to Mr. Marty Wargo, London Records, Inc., New York City. In full: "Dear Friend I enclose an advertisement that was in the program recently in London. Could we have a similar advertisement in the program which we first shall perform in October? Greetings". MARTY WARGO was Stokowski's producer from 1963 to 1970 and his personal manager from 1973 until Stokowski's death in 1977. LEOPOLD STOKOWSKI (1882-1977, born Leopold Antoni Stanislaw Boleslawawicz Stokowski in London England) conducted the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (1909-1912), Philadelphia Orchestra (1914-1936), N.Y. Symphony Orchestra (1944-1945) and Houston Symphony (1955-1962). He formed the American Symphony Orchestra in 1962. He was known for his lush interpretations of the classics and it was under his baton that the orchestra played the music for Disney's Fantasia (1940). Lightly creased and rippled. Two binder holes at left edge. Torn staple holes in upper left corner. Paper clip impressions at top edge. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
