LEOPOLD STOKOWSKI
Stokowski signed this typed letter of thanks on his personalized stationery to Marty Wargo, his producer at London Records, in 1968 for his help on "the orchestral parts of the four composers".
Typed letter signed "Leopold Stokowski" in blue ink. 1 page, 8½x5¼, on Stokowski's personalized stationery. New York City, Oct. 15, 1968. Addressed to Mr. Marty Wargo, London Records, New York, N.Y. In full: "Dear Friend/Thanks for your great kindness in helping us so much regarding the orchestral parts of the four composers. Now everything is in order because of your skill and wonderful cooperative spirit. Greetings". MARTY WARGO was Stokowski's producer from 1963 to 1970 and his personal manager from 1973 until Stokowski's death in 1977. Stokowski (1882-1977, born Leopold Antoni Stanislaw Boleslawawicz Stokowski in London England) conducted the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (1909-1912), Philadelphia Orchestra (1914-1936), N.Y. Symphony Orchestra (1944-1945) and Houston Symphony (1955-1962). He formed the American Symphony Orchestra in 1962. He was known for his lush interpretations of the classics and it was under his baton that the orchestra played the music for Disney's Fantasia (1940). Lightly soiled and creased. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
