Stokowski signed this typed letter on his personalized stationery in 1962 regarding an upcoming dinner date.
Typed letter signed "Leopold Stokowski". 1 page, 8¼x5½, on Stokowski's personalized stationery. Oct. 15, 1968. Addressed to Miss Hilda Davis, New York City. In full: "Dear friend I am glad you enjoyed the music and I lok forward to enjoying dinner with you on Wednesday January 23, if that is till convenient for you. Would 7:30 be a good time? Always with friendly thoughts". MARTY WARGO was Stokowski's producer from 1963 to 1970 and his personal manager from 1973 until Stokowski's death in 1977. Stokowski (1882-1977, born Leopold Antoni Stanislaw Boleslawawicz Stokowski in London England) conducted the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (1909-1912), Philadelphia Orchestra (1914-1936), N.Y. Symphony Orchestra (1944-1945) and Houston Symphony (1955-1962). He formed the American Symphony Orchestra in 1962. He was known for his lush interpretations of the classics and it was under his baton that the orchestra played the music for Disney's Fantasia (1940). Lightly toned, soiled creased and rippled. Light tear at bottom edge. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
