LES GIRLS MOVIE CAST: GENE KELLY and MITZI GAYNOR
Both sign a color 10x8 movie still from the MGM musical Les Girls
Inscribed printed photograph signed in ink: "To Charles/With Love/Mitzi/Gaynor" and "Gene Kelly". Color, 10x8. Movie still from the M-G-M musical, ©1957, Loew's, Inc. This film is told in flashback, as two-thirds of a popular cabaret trio attempt to legally block the third from writing her memoirs. To make sense of these wildly diverse recollections, the court must rely upon a fourth party to straighten things out. Enter the dancing star who organized "Les Girls" in the first place. Actor, director and innovative dancer/choreographer GENE KELLY (1912-1996)was a major 1950s and 1960s star in MGM musicals such as Singin' in the Rain (1952). He received aspecial Academy Award in 1951 "in appreciation of his versatility as an actor, singer, director and dancer, and especially for his brilliant achievements in the art of choreography on film". A professional dancer from age 12, MITZI GAYNOR(b. 1931) starred in a series of film musicals beginning with My Blue Heaven. She starred as Nellie Forbush in the screen version of South Pacific (1958). Much of her best work was done on stage, however, where she sang and danced opposite such male legends as Bing Crosby, Donald O'Connor and Frank Sinatra, in addition to Gene Kelly. Slightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
